Affordable Health Care: Ithaca Health Alliance
More and more of clients are reporting they have lost their healthcare. While our clients are using Ayurveda, they also feel the need for western coverage?a valid viewpoint. You can see how the lack of health insurance is causing much mental stress ? especially for families with children, and the elderly.

Further, in 2000, a study found that medical bills are responsible for half of all yearly bankruptcies.

There are several options to unaffordable, expensive healthcare. Here is one alternative:

The Ithaca Health Alliance (NY) has a co-op medical plan where members:
* pay $100 annual fee (regardless of their background or health status).
* pay no deductible
* no burdensome paperwork
* file a claim: just submit a receipt.

The co-op plan pays up to a fixed level for services like burn treatment, ambulance rides, emergency stitches, some dental care - regardless where the accident or treatment occurs

Coverage also includes discounts for preventative and alternative care from local providers.

The Ithaca Health Alliance has more than 825 members, of which 22% live in other states.
While the Alliance is based in Ithaca, NY, anyone in the world is allowed to become a member. Moreover, the Alliance honors medical and holistic care from anywhere in the world (i.e., they submit payments upon receiving members? receipts)

This plan is not a substitute for comprehensive health plans. Rather it fills in the gaps in medical care access. It is similar to the Amish community who put some money into a communal fund to act as a safety net for the community members.

You may review their website to see if their plan is of benefit to your family.

Ayurvedic practitioners and herbal product companies may easily become providers (offering discounts to members). You may freely add your company to our resource link site and add that you are willing to honor all IHA member cards (for X% discount). You may also contact IHA directly.
