It is one of the important type of rasayana, mentioned in the classic ayurvedic texts. Kuti means hut/house, praveshika means by entering inside. So collectively, kutipraveshika rasayana means that procedure in which one has to enter the specialy prepared hut/house & by remaining there, one has to consume rasayana drug for the stipulated period.

In light of contemporary disciplines, one may call it as an in-patient arrangement for rasayana karma. Whereas vatatapika rasayana means that procedure whereby a person consumes rasayana drugs while moving out, being exposed to external environment [vata (wind) & aatapa (bright sunlight)].

The speciality in the kutipraveshika rasayana, is the arrangement of the kuti (hut), which has to be a trigarbha kuti. That means it is prepared in such a way that it has three concentric circles/walls, the innermost circle has an arrangement for sleeping, having place where person can have rasayana, where he can do his daily religious rituals, where an attending physician can examine them.

The doors & windows of the inner circles are provided in such a way that they will not be in front of doors & windows of outer two walls, so that direct entry of wind will be controlled. A vaidya who is about to attend person must be well educated & well practiced in actually makings of the rasdayana kalpas (formulations).

The client also must posses certain qualities, he must follow the vaidya completely, should fallow diet regimen accurately, should be (dnapaka) intelligent enough to able to notice a minute changes in his health while undergoing the procedures & must say all these things to the vaidya.

There is a reference available stating that this type of procedure of kutipraveshika rasayana was conducted at Benaras Hindu University ( B.H.U.) in presence of Pt. Madanmohana Malaveeyaji, then vice chacellor of B.H.U., to undertake experiment of kayakalpa.
