Botanical description: It is an under shrub, erect stem,? 0.5-2 m high,
Leaves: Entire, obovate, sub acute, alternate, 5-10cm long
Flowers: Axillary, sessile or shortly pedicelled, fascicled,
Fruits: small, round, juicy, capsulated, bright red in colour.
Seeds: small, slimy and flat,
Root: 0.3-0.5 m long, as thick as finger, grey from out side and white from inside. Tender wet roots smell like horse, so it is called Ashwagandha.
Flowering season- Oct-Nov., then fruiting.
