After addition of these compounds along with the mainline treatment to the patients of Ulcerative Colitis one finds the following changes within two weeks:

  • Consistency of stool improves, however frequency remains same, which improves later on with time.
  • Quantity of blood in stool reduces.
  • Quantity of mucus in stool reduces.
  • Slowly steadily the urgency to go to toilet reduces.
  • Hemoglobin improves and energy level goes up. After 6 to 8 months we advise the patients to go through colonoscopic examination which usually shows improved vascular pattern.

A study on role of Ulcerin Compound I & II in Ulcerative Colitis
Because the condition of many patients is not adequately controlled by 5-aminosalicylic acid, 5-ASA, and mesalazine (Brands-Asacol; Mesasal; Pentasa; Salofalk) and steroid therapy, doctors and researchers worldwide are looking for a breakthrough in the treatment of Ulcerative Colitis.

Ten years back the study was initiated by myself at Sushruta Ayurvedic Therapy Centre New Delhi and Chandigarh in order to find out whether the Ulcerin Compound I & Ulcerin Compound II:

  • Encourages remission of symptoms in resistant Ulcerative Colitis and
  • Prevents relapse, which is common feature of Ulcerative Colitis

In ten years, I have treated approximately five thousand patients of Ulcerative Colitis with these compounds. All patients of resistant as well as continuous Ulcerative Colitis took Ulcerin Compound I & Ulcerin Compound II in powder and capsule form along with their main medication. Within three to four weeks, their symptoms were controlled after which they underwent a gradual tapering of allopathic drugs they had been using.

The results of my treatment were assessed on the basis on symptomatic relief only. After treatment only a few patients could be subjected to investigations like colonoscopic or Sigmoidoscopic and Histopathological examination due to the lack of facilities in my center.

Approximately 85% patients, who never had a remission with 5-aminosalicylic acid, 5-ASA, and mesalazine (Brands-Asacol; Mesasal; Pentasa; Salofalk) and steroid therapy, became symptoms free with the addition of these compounds. Many patients were thinking of surgery, because they were advised Colectomy (total removal of large intestines) before my treatment. Many (approx. 85%) patients went in remission. This success gave me lot of satisfaction in my life.

However there were relapses of the disease in about 50% of patients in my follow up study of about five to ten years, but the advantage was that in most of relapsed cases the symptoms were not so severe as in the past.

I have complete clinical data of my patients with me. I wish that the results of my treatment should be evaluated by proper scientific methods. I invite the research organizations or pharmaceutical companies, interested to carry on further research on Ulcerin Compound I & Ulcerin Compound II.

Caution
Opiates anti- diarrheals such as Karpoor Ras , Karpoorasav, Codeine or Loperamide are generally contraindicated in treatment of Ulcerative Colitis because such agent can precipitate toxic megacolon.

Risk of
Colon Cancer
As per modern scientific research there is strong correlation between Ulcerative Colitis and Colorectal cancer. The risk of colon cancer begins to increase after someone has had Ulcerative Colitis for approximately ten years or whose entire colon is affected. The risk increases by ten percent for each decade it is suffered. However if only the rectum and lower colon is involved, the risk of cancer is not high. Someone who has had a diagnose of Ulcerative Colitis for longer than five to ten years should undergo a complete colonoscopy at least every two years. The key to cancer therapy is early detection and early treatment.
